Neighborhood Degree
For more than twenty years, Neighborhood Church has been present alongside families connected to Houston Elementary—one of Visalia’s most resilient and hardworking neighborhoods.
What began as simple partnership and support slowly revealed something deeper: the challenges facing families weren’t just about short-term relief. They were about long-term opportunity.
Out of that learning, Neighborhood Degree emerged as a ministry of Neighborhood Church … a focused expression of its commitment to walk with neighbors toward lasting change.
Neighborhood Degree brings neighbors together to learn, build relationships, and expand the networks that so often determine access to opportunity. Through learning communities and practical support, participants gain tools, confidence, and stability—step by step, together.
This isn’t a quick fix or a one-time program.
It’s neighbors walking with neighbors.
It’s the church showing up, listening well, and investing for the long haul.
Because when people are connected, supported, and empowered, entire neighborhoods can thrive.
Our new Community Center is open — and now it’s time to fill it with people, relationships, and opportunities for students. Neighborhood Degree exists to walk alongside students in our community, and none of it happens without volunteers.
Last year, 122 volunteers from across our community gave more than 3,600 hours mentoring and supporting Neighborhood Degree programs — showing up week after week to build real relationships with students. This fall, we’d love to see even more of our church family jump in and be part of what’s next.
